What are they?
Grassroots venues are independent, small-capacity music spaces. They are the proving ground for emerging talent and essential community assets that foster local scenes — often run on passion alone.
Why do we need them?
They are currently closing at an alarming rate. Without these spaces, artists have nowhere to hone their craft, and fans lose their best chance to experience live music affordably. Every closure is a cultural loss.

Music Venues Trust are the main advocacy and support body for the UK's small and independent live music venue sector. They act to protect, secure and improve UK grassroots music venues for the benefit of venues, communities and upcoming artists.
